Giving Thanks

I’ve been neglecting my poor blog. It’s been a busy time at Camp Fishpimp. I finished the sales year in September ranked in the top 10 out of nearly 500 salespeople and qualified for the Superstars trip to Maui in January. While last year was the best of my 8-year sales career, this year is getting off to a slower start than I’d prefer.

So I’m back at the drawing board drawing up my plan for the year. Three years ago I worked mainly on restaurants and government accounts. Two years ago I focused on automotive & construction companies. Last year I focused on food processing companies. This year I’m continuing the push on food processing and branching into healthcare.

While the job is still very challenging (in the 3 years I’ve been here I’ve seen over 15 salespeople come and go in my office), from my perspective it’s still a big upgrade over the fishhouse. There are only so many companies that buy fish. I only had a handful of prospects that weren’t doing business with us; and they all did business with the other guys for a reason. Here, just in downtown Seattle I have over two thousand prospects with all kinds of opportunity.

This Thanksgiving week I am very, very grateful for my job.
